Know the Crowd

National Geographic Traveler, the publication I’m aiming for in my next article, identifies their audience on a annual pdf, detailing readership demographics. Besides a clear appeal for advertising, the page tells a lot about the expected style. Average Household income, proportion of men to women subscribed, etc. detail who I’m writing for. Then on their submission guideline page they elucidate exactly the captivating travel narratives they’re looking for, unrestricted of specific style. Nat Geo demands fresh insight, that “captures the spirit of travel” and leaves me with minimal limitations, grounded on preserving the audience of the publication.
