One of the trickiest, but possibly most important, questions about writing is what is style? Well, there is no one answer for that question. Style is tone, voice, syntax, diction, all these things that come together in a piece of writing that make it unique to that author. Then that leads to the question of what style is best. For that, I do not believe there is an answer. The style that is most effective all depends on the subject and genre an author is writing. Take Hemingway, for example. His stories and poetry are direct narratives with little to no flourish or embellishment about realistic events, many of which were based off his own life experiences. His style is very distinct and easy to recognize and effective for what he wrote. However, if he had attempted to write fantasy with his style, I daresay it would be largely ineffective.
